     HR Dems for Political Action

This newsletter will be sent out periodically to communicate political action events in Collin County and resources for influencing key political figures.

Issue 6, April 27, 2025 (with updates)

The BIG THING:  Local Elections!

The Democratic Club at Heritage Ranch hosted a Lovejoy ISD forum on April 23, 2025, open to all of Heritage Ranch.  Both candidates for the contested Lovejoy School Board Trustee Place 2 and a team to explain the Bond issues were our speakers. Based on this meeting and independent research, the Political Activities Committee had recommendations.  Early voting continued Monday and Tuesday, and Election Day was Saturday, May 3rd.

Bond issue – There were five propositions that make up the Bond.  Each was voted on independently.  Your committee recommended a vote FOR all propositions.  A yes vote means upgrades to all existing facilities in Lovejoy.  Like Heritage Ranch, the infrastructure is aging, and repairs/improvements are needed.  Passing this Bond will NOT affect our taxes.

RESULTS:

Lovejoy voters narrowly approved $276 million school bond package Saturday.

Aubrey Stock was elected for Place 2 of the LISD Board of Trustees.

Lovejoy Place 2 – Your committee recommended Aubrey Stock for Place 2 Trustee.  Aubrey is a licensed attorney with a background in both law and education.

● She holds a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education with a certification in English as a Second Language, and a Juris Doctor.

● Aubrey and her husband have five children in the district.

● She has held multiple PTO leadership positions and graduated from Leadership Lovejoy.

● She’s contributed to a number of district committees, including the Strategic Planning, Bond Elections and Campus Improvement.

● She has also contributed to a funding bill for the Texas legislature to fund Gifted/Talented programs in Texas schools and she was the recipient of the 2023 Lovejoy Service Award.

One More Ballot Item: Collin College Board of Trustees, Place 4

Staci L. Weaver was elected for Place 4

HR Dems Participate in TWO protests!

Two protests in McKinney saw HUNDREDS of people participating in non-violent protests.  One was at the corner of El Dorado and Craig, and one was at highway 380.  These two protests were part of a nation-wide movement.
